Our Paint Your ART Out class created these Jim Dine-style floating ART hearts. Jim Dine is an American Pop Artist and an Abstract Expressionist. He is also considered the "King of Hearts" because he uses the heart image in the vast majority of his work.

The backgrounds were created with colored tissue that was moistened and allowed to bleed. The hearts were filled in with acrylic paint and the shadows and highlights were added with charcoal and soft white pastels.
The resulting hearts look like 3-D floating hearts, don't they?
We also did this project in February of last year. You can see more here.
